Monel K500 Socket Weld Fittings Applications
Alloy K500 forged Socket Welding (SW) fittings are mainly used to permanently join pipes that are inserted into a recess in the fitting, flange, or valve. Once correctly inserted, fillet-type sealing welds are applied to join the pipe to the fitting. It is commonly known as SW pipe fittings, with SW elbows, SW couplings, and SW tees being examples of different types. Grade K500 Socket weld fittings have high leakage integrity and structural strength and can be used to change the direction of travel for pipe networks as well as join pipes at different angles and of different diameters.
Monel K500 is a nickel-copper alloy with the same characteristics as the Monel 400 and corrosion resistance. Due to added titanium and aluminum, the nickel alloy Monel K-500 has a greater hardness and strength (as a result of its age-hardening ability). Monel K-500 provides corrosion resistance in several marine and chemical applications.
