Inconel 718 SW Fittings Applications
Alloy 718 forged Socket Welding (SW) fittings are mainly used to permanently join pipes that are inserted into a recess in the fitting, flange, or valve. Once correctly inserted, fillet-type sealing welds are applied to join the pipe to the fitting. It is commonly known as SW pipe fittings, with SW elbows, SW couplings, and SW tees being examples of different types. Grade 718 Socket weld fittings have high leakage integrity and structural strength and can be used to change the direction of travel for pipe networks as well as join pipes at different angles and of different diameters.
Alloy 718 is a nickel-chromium alloy with additions of molybdenum and niobium which can be heat-treated to give high good corrosion resistance, strength, and ease of formability and can be welded with good resistance to strain age cracking. The alloy can be used at temperatures up to 700ºC.
